In this exclusive interview, Kie Tate sat down with CurviosaFashion.com to share her journey, her style philosophy, and what confidence means to her as a woman redefining modern plus-size representation.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Comfy, bold, and creative.

What inspires your fashion choices when creating content for Instagram?

A compilation of mood boards, planned-out inspo I’ve thought through strategically, and recreating fashion I’ve seen on smaller women.

Are there any wardrobe pieces you believe every plus-size woman should own?

I believe every plus size woman should have a good pair of jeans. Particularly for me, jeans that fit great and are comfortable are difficult to find. So when you do find that pair, grab 2!

How has your personal style evolved since becoming a UGC creator and model?

I noticed that my style started evolving when I gained more confidence in myself and started receiving feedback to showcase more outfit inspo. It made me feel like I was creating my own space and identity in the creative world.

When you plan a photoshoot or an Instagram post, what’s the most important element for you: outfit, mood, background, or story?

The background is most important; it helps lay out the story you’re trying to convey. It also helps synchronize the mood and brings out different details in your wardrobe.

Which brands or designers do you feel represent plus-size fashion the best right now?

The best brands that fit true to size have been UK brands like Universal Standard. The quality is subpurb and lasts for years. ASOS is a really good brand too. They usually hit the sizes on the mark. In addition, all of my clothing comes from various brands, and over the years, these brands have changed their sizing, manufacturers, or have gone out of business. For example, my go-to places to shop online were Rebdolls and Boohoo, but now they do not fit the way they use to. Fashionova and Pretty Little Thing are hit or miss. If I purchase a set, more than likely the top fits, but the bottoms don’t, or vice versa.

What tips would you give to plus-size women who want to feel more confident in front of the camera?

The more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll get. Go out in public and take pictures of yourself or have someone help you. Specifically a photographer who is great with all body types and knows how to direct and pose. You can also reach out to a modeling coach to assist. I still get anxious making content in public, but I always say, “I’ll never see these people again, so who cares if they’re looking?”

Do you have a go-to outfit formula on days when you want to feel stylish but comfortable?

I have a few items in my closet that go well together. I grab those first when I want to be comfortable but still cute. I notice the compliments I receive when I wear these items together and separately.

What type of content does your audience respond to the most?

I definitely receive more feedback when I post fashion content.

What’s one dream collaboration or campaign that you would love to do in the future?

I would love to work with Eloquii on a campaign.
